My first experience with a yoga class was in the early 90’s when I wandered into a Kundalini studio in Los Angeles. A year later I finished a teacher training at Yoga West where Yogi Bhajan often held meditation classes. Kundalini was the remedy I needed at that time, which was pretty dark for me, and I began teaching at the studio as well as my home.
Later I began practicing the Ashtanga, Iyengar and Anusara styles of yoga and went through Anusara-inspired and Yoga Flow teacher trainings as well. I love each one of them and they continue to inform my practice. I’m grateful to Asheville Community Yoga for allowing me to share what I’ve learned so far, in this beautiful, heart-centered space where I also completed their wonderful teacher training.
All along I had been meditating and doing pranayama, even before practicing asana, including 10-day Vipassana silent retreats. Meditation is good medicine on so many levels, whether it is chanting, sitting in silence, listening to a guided journey, or following the breath for 5 minutes before bed. In addition, I’ve studied several energy healing modalities and have a healing practice here in Asheville.
I’m excited and honored to be on Planet Earth at this time of accelerated spiritual evolution. It’s a wild, often hard ride with beautiful potentials. Thank you too for being here!
