Maegan first encountered yoga during her junior year of high school. Without previous encouragement or exposure, she felt an impulse (and intense curiosity) to find a nearby yoga studio. She took one class and instantly fell in love. The practice made her feel as if something inside of her had opened and she felt more creative, inspired, and loved. She experienced the magic that yoga offers through acceptance and surrender. Maegan quickly cultivated a strong desire to share her love of the practice. In 2007, she began a 200-hour Vinyasa yoga teacher training certified through Yoga Alliance in Philadelphia, PA and immediately started to teach as she entered college. The teacher training was pivotal in introducing Maegan to some of her greatest passions in life; yoga, nutrition, herbalism, energy work, and holistic health. From then on, she knew she wanted to deepen her knowledge of these modalities and continue to help others. After some time and deliberation, in 2014 she decided to move to Asheville and began a Master’s program in Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture at Daoist Traditions College of Chinese Medical Arts. In the summer of 2015, she received her training in Reiki 1 and 2.
It is her life long goal and utmost interest to incorporate all of these amazing healing practices, including Chinese medical philosophy, Daoism, and Qi Gong, into her yoga classes and to involve yoga and movement in her future practice as a Chinese Medicine practitioner. Maegan focuses her classes on physical and emotional awareness, encourages the uniqueness of each student, and leads with an emphasis on gratitude with every breath.
Maegan likes to get upside down at least once a day – but when she’s not practicing her handstands, she loves to hike in the beautiful Western North Carolina Mountains, practice acro-yoga with her partner, cuddle her dogs, and eat at any one of the amazing restaurants in town. She is extremely grateful to be a part of this wonderful community!
