Laura is an educator at a non-profit organization that provides services for those impacted by domestic violence and sexual assault. Her work includes trauma-informed, social-emotional education for youth and speaking about LGBTQ+ issues in rural communities. She started practicing yoga on and off in 2010 and made the decision to become a yoga teacher after realizing that a body-based practice was missing from her work. Her own experience has taught her that yoga allows people to tune into their own unique experiences while finding a strong mind/body balance. She completed her 250 hr Teacher Training at Asheville Community Yoga and Trauma-Informed Yoga for Youth training with Yoga Ed. She’s excited to be a part of a community that honors yoga for ALL! Laura lives with her wife, Eryn, and crew of rescue animals. She identifies as lesbian and her pronouns are she/her/hers
Laura’s Class:
Express Yourself LGBTQ+ Morning Flow
(All Levels, Beginners Welcome)
Thursdays from 8:00 to 9:00 am
Sometimes you just need to raise a flag and wave it! For LGBTQ+ people, mainstream yoga culture can be isolating and even alienating. It’s not always the case that the way we feel inside matches how we feel outside. This community class is for people who identify as LGBTQ+ or allies who wish to celebrate our diverse bodies, genders, ages, identities, and abilities while we practice in a protected and affirming space. Breathe, stretch, express, and move your body in this beginner-friendly and playful class. Find comfort in your skin and nurture your true identity without judgment. Expect to feel supported, connected, and opportunities for dance breaks!
