Emily’s pronouns are she/her/hers, and she is an Asheville native who first began a yoga practice through occasional classes at the local YMCA. Her appreciation for yoga deepened when she fell in love with Asheville Community Yoga and began practicing at the studio almost every day. This excitement about the physical practice of asana fell in tandem with an evolving interest in the histories and spiritualities of yogic philosophy. While completing Asheville Community Yoga’s 250 hr teacher training, Emily came to the conclusion that living within her truth involves offering service to others.
Emily believes that at its core yoga is a powerful political tool, and encourages her students to take the lessons they find in class off the mat and into the world. She is so grateful for the opportunity to share this truth with you all!

After we have moved our bodies in ways that encourage strength and celebration, we will return to the ground for some deeper stretches and longer holds. Expect frequent readings and opportunities to find playfulness in your practice. This practice is designed to be physically challenging and is for students who have some familiarity with yoga asana.
