Darcy is originally from Charlotte, NC but has called the Blue Ridge Mountains home since 2009. She has traveled back and forth between Boone, NC & Asheville, NC throughout the past decade cultivating a deeper understanding and appreciation for the creative process in relation to the mind/body/spirit connection. She began exploring her own yoga journey as an undergraduate student at Appalachian State University (ASU) in 2010. In 2013 Darcy graduated from ASU with a bachelor’s degree in Interdisciplinary Studies with a concentration in Creative Art Healing. She moved to Asheville shortly after and began working as a paraprofessional art educator for adults with physical, mental and emotional differences. She started practicing yoga regularly at ACY in 2014 as a way to dive deeper into understanding her own body/mind connection while also helping to maintain balance in her personal life. In 2015 she returned to ASU for graduate school and in 2017 received her 200-hour YTT certificate from Neighborhood Yoga in Boone, NC..
Darcy first began teaching yoga at ACY in 2018 but then decided to take a short break to finish her degree. In 2019 she graduated with her Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling with a concentration in Body-Centered Therapy and a certificate in Expressive Arts Therapy. Darcy is an advocate for mental health awareness, human equality, animal and environmental protection, women’s empowerment and keeping the arts alive. In her spare time you can find her creating art in her studio, practicing yoga, hiking, dancing, seeing live music or adventuring around in this beautiful mountain community. She is SO grateful to be back teaching at ACY and can’t wait to connect with you all!
