Our September Volunteer of the Month is Susan Councell-Rabourn from our childcare department, who also waters our plants! Susie shows up so sweetly and authentically. The kids absolutely love her kind and loving nature. She is always willing to come in and help out when she is available and her smile could warm any room. Susie is dedicated to her practice and can be found here regularly taking classes. Thank you Susie for making Asheville Community Yoga a better place!
I’m blessed to be part of your community. (We are the blessed ones, Susie!)
1)What was the experience with yoga that got you hooked?
Through the teacher’s guidance, I began sensing the relaxation within my being, a connection in my heart. The excellence of various teachers. Consistency.
2)What inspires you to continue yoga?
I sense an innate healing power inside of me, returning to life. (Not to mention a new calm steady lower blood pressure!)
3)What is your favorite pose?
My favourite pose is the Warrior of Peace….
4)What is your most challenging pose?
Standing balance on one leg (Tree!)
5)What is your favorite time/place to practice?
I choose morning in the yoga studio and at home. Practically, it’s often 12:15 pm.

I have greater physical and mental energy. A sense of community. Respect for myself.

Consistency of practice. Being there. Showing up for myself.
