We’re tipping our hat to Sarah Dew as our February Volunteer of the Month. She completed her 200 hour teacher training here at Asheville Community Yoga and continues be an integral part of our community. Sarah helped shovel snow with a smile on her face and warmth in her heart. She always helps to mop floors after the evening classes and never hesitates to lend a hand in the community when one is needed. Here is a little bit about Sarah and her practice…
I’ve had a yoga practice for ten years, my practice on my mat has always called me back, it wasn’t until becoming a member of the community at Asheville Community Yoga that I truly understood why I have a passion for yoga. The emotional releases I get from practicing , the connection that comes with practice. It’s all very beautiful to me. I enjoy all the yoga poses really, they all have different meanings and create different feelings through out the body, but Balancing Poses are my most challenging. Yoga has become my escape from my mind, my ego; all forms of the yogic practice has allowed me to have a deeper understand with my body, my breath; connecting to it both physically, mentally, and spiritually. A recurring theme that runs through my practice is that I love and accept myself just the way I am. I really enjoy practicing to Luna Ray and Ajeet Kaur. I found Asheville Community Yoga when I moved to North Asheville; I lived walking distance from the studio and was hooked with my first time visit, I haven’t gone to another studio since! I recently completed the teacher training program at Asheville Community Yoga and I enjoy Linda Go’s Kirtan workshops. An embarrassing moment in class Almost creating a domino effect of people falling over in one of Wendy’s classes. (Whoops!)
Thanks for all that you do friend, we’re lucky to have you here!
