Hot Yoga for Beginners with Lindsay Fields
Every Thursday from 6:30-8:00pm, Jan. 10th – 31st
A slow-paced class with a strong focus on alignment and safety. The poses and teachings in this series are based on the lineage from Calcutta, India, that of Bishnu Ghosh, otherwise known as Hot Yoga. This style of yoga was made popular in the United States by Bikram Choudhury, however in this series the room will not be quite as hot. At about 85-90 degrees, the warm environment allows for a deep release within the body, lessens chance of injury, aids in healing, detoxification, and healthy joints. The poses will be simple and accessible and Lindsay will be available after class for questions. Breath work and meditation will also be introduced.

Explore the classical roots of yoga in Master Patanjali’s teachings on the nature of consciousness and spiritual liberation.
Understand asana practice within the coherent structure of all eight limbs (ashta-anga) of yoga practice.
Learn the meditative program yogis and yoginis use to realize the full capability of mind, thereby exposing the illusions that ordinarily keep us bound to experiences of suffering.
About John: John Muecke holds an MA in religious studies from Stanford U, BA from the U of TN and is a graduate of the geshe studies (master of Buddhist studies) program of the Asian Classics Institute.
