This season of giving offers a wonderful opportunity to practice mindfulness. The act of giving and receiving creates an exchange of energy far beyond wrapping or unwrapping a gift. We are given a chance to create a space for deeper connection.
The most memorable moments of the holidays are often simply the time we spend with one another. Intentional listening, holding space for one another, sharing laughter and meaningful memories offer long-lasting feelings of connection with one another.
Many of us are uncomfortable with the act of receiving, yet are very happy to purchase or create gifts for others. Another act of mindfulness is being present with the loving intention of the gift you are being given. Take time to acknowledge the thought and energy which went into sharing this gift with you and allow your heart to be open, breathing into gratitude. The light in your eyes will convey a deep and authentic thank you for their offering.
As you consider ways in which to share during this season, remember those less fortunate. Often giving of our time, donating goods or services, or simply sitting with a person in need will provide a benefit to you as well as to them. Selfless giving from our hearts allows a renewed understanding of the meaning of this season.
Our teachers give the gift of their wisdom and study of yoga. Throughout the month of December, we invite you to show your gratitude to your teachers and please plan to join us on Saturday, December 2nd at 6 pm for our Teacher Appreciation Potluck and Holiday Party.
As we continue to expand our community in class offerings, new cafe and healing arts rooms, and community garden, please consider making sharing the gift of yoga as well. We have gift certificates available at the front desk for multiple community member offerings, as well as gift cards which can be used toward classes and merchandise. As always, donations are tax deductible and can be made at the desk or online https://ashevillecommunityyoga.com/donate-money/
May you embrace the gift of connection this holiday season and find opportunities to practice mindful giving and receiving. With deep gratitude from all of us at Asheville Community Yoga, we wish you peace and love.
