Meet our Student of the Month, Peter Young! Peter has been tremendously helpful in so many ways, offering his invaluable skills in a number of huge construction projects here at the studio. Not to mention that he is a dedicated asana practitioner, showing up and sharing his practice and presence several times each week.

Here’s what Peter has to say about his practice:

What was the experience with yoga that got you hooked?
I was unfortunately in a yoga cult with a guru and all the trimmings for 13 years, which made me run away from yoga for many years after that. But I have slowly gotten over the trauma and started again.

What inspires you to continue yoga?
It helps with strength, flexibility and physical pain.

What is your favorite pose?
Handstand, which I can’t really do.

What is your most challenging pose?
Handstand, see above.

What is your favorite time/place to practice?
Amazingly enough, it is this great yoga studio in Woodfin called Asheville Community Yoga.

How has yoga changed your life?
I cannot really say that it has changed my life, but I enjoy it and I keep coming back for more.

What is your mantra?
I don’t have one and even if I did, it would be so powerful that I could not share it.

Do you have a passion other than yoga you’d like to share about?
I am continually trying to find the time and motivation to play piano and accordion.

Peter, you are an amazing human! We appreciate so much the humor, the groundedness, and certainly the assistance with infrastructure you have so generously offered this community over the past months and years! Thank you so much for being exactly who you are. We love you!!!
